This evening, Birch presents, “Traveling Yule Altars.”

A traveling altar has been a key part of solar rituals for thousands of years. This Friday, we will learn about what to consider when making a traveling altar compared to a full-sized altar, and also learn how to make a Yule Altar. We will then tell stories of the Yuletide season and build our own Traveling Yule Altars.

The Grove will supply you if you are joining us in person, but you can bring any items you want for your personal traveling Yule Altar.

If you are joining us from home, please have the following:

Required:

  • One box, any material, roughly 5" long x 3"tall

And any of the following you may want to add for a Yule Altar:

  • Red or Green birthday candles

  • Cinnamon or Wintergreen Oil and 5-dram bottles

  • Pine or Cedar Incense

  • Miniature craft besom

  • Small squares of fabric for altar cloth

  • Sprig of Pine (Christmas Tree lots or wooded areas are great places to find these)

  • Small Yule decorations you may have around the home (tiny ornaments or miniature figurines are perfect).

A $5 love donation is strongly suggested. Cash, checks, and donations via PayPal (Abelina’s Grove) are accepted.

Tonight, we celebrate Krampus!

The days aren't very cold because we live in South Florida but they are getting shorter, and darker, which means it is time once again to light the bonfire and celebrate the coming of the Winter Solstice with Krampus, the Mari Llwyd, La Befana, and all the rest.

Tonight is the Grove's Annual Krampus Run and Wassail, so bring some snacks, dress for a Krampus Run, and be ready to celebrate around a fire lit against the December night.

But beware! You better watch out; you better not cry .... cause Krampus is coming to Town!

A $5 love donation is strongly suggested. Cash, checks, and donations via PayPal (Abelina’s Grove) are accepted.

Plastic Bag

Monthly Plarning Session

The Green Man Alliance hosts a monthly "plarning" circle. Volunteers are needed to cut plastic bags into strips, and to crochet the strips into sleeping mats which are donated to Broward Homeless Outreach for the unhoused community in Broward County.

Metals Recycling Program

The Green Man Alliance also wants your recyclable metals, especially aluminum and tin. The GMA keeps these valuable materials out of the landfill by donating them to a metals recycling center which can  make them into something new.
