Waning Crescent Moon Magick
The Waning Crescent phase, which directly follows the Last Quarter, is when we see just a small sliver of the Moon. That little piece of the Moon that is visible to the human eye is now on the left side, as opposed to the Waxing Crescent, when it is on the right. This sliver will totally disappear into the Dark Moon and then the cycle will begin again at the New Moon.
During the Waning Crescent Moon, it is an ideal time to work on the removal of any sort of negative aspects from your life. Now is the time to Banish.
Banishing has gotten a bum rap. Many folx think of it as negative or possibly evil. It doesn’t have to be. The main ingredient in any magick is intention. The primary focus of banishment spells is the removal of things. So, cleansing and purifying are actually forms of banishment. Think about that next time you do the dishes and say “I banish this grease to the hot, soapy water”. Vacuum with intention and rid your home of dirt and stress at the same time. Now you know why witches always had brooms. Be a witch everyday not just on special occasions. Banishing can provide the practitioner with a sense of relief as we close the door on what no longer serves us.
The Moon is representative of one’s intuition and subconscious. This last phase before the Moon is completely dark is perfect for Shadow work. Shadow work brings forward what may reside in the subconscious; this can include feelings of fear, self-doubt, or even self-loathing on some level. Shadow work assists with one finding the root causes of these particular feelings and allows the practitioner to effectively work through them. The waning crescent is a time of sorting. What needs to go, what needs to stay, what needs more work.
Starting the process of shadow work and self-acceptance during the Waning Crescent is ideal due to the nature of the following phase: the New Moon. At the New Moon one can focus magickal workings on acceptance and growth, which is imperative during and following the completion of shadow work. Nature hates a void. If you get rid of something you need to replace it with something better or the same old thing or something worst will come back in again. Think of it as a means of paving the way for a new beginning. As they say, when one door closes, another door opens.
How can we achieve this?
Start with yourself and a Ritual Bath
Purification Bath
2 tablespoons of salt
⅛ teaspoon of charcoal
¼ teaspoon mugwort
¼ teaspoon Rosemary
2 drops frankincense oil
1 drop lemon oil
Meditation – Put on some relaxing music and review the list you made at the last new moon. Are you moving toward your goals? What’s in the way? Are those still viable goals?
Little Blessings Tea Candle
Choose a tealight in the appropriate color to your working.
With a toothpick drill 3 holes in the tealight in a triangle formation.
Place a drop of the appropriate oil for your working in each hole.
Quick Banishing Rituals in the Waning Moon
The Little Blessing Banishing Spell
You will need:
Pen and paper
Little Blessings Tea Candle
Write on the paper what is currently bothering you or what you want to remove from your life.
Light the candle and send what no longer serves you into the candle. When you are ready burn the paper.
Come to me, Lord and Lady
Heal this spirit, heal this soul
Come to me, Lord and Lady
Mind and body shall be whole
Beast of the burning sunlight
Sear this wound that pain may cease
Mistress of the watery midnight
Hold us fast and bring us peace
The Gordian Knot Spell
Take the cord in the palms of your hands and meditate on a situation that no longer serves you. Do this in a way that reflects the greatest good and harms none if possible.
While reciting the knot magick spell tie your 9 knots on top of each other. Really pull the ends of the cord. Make this mega knot impossible to untie.
When finished hold this seemingly impossible to untie knot up before you and declare "It makes no difference how they are loosed!"
Cut through the knot with your scissors and let the pieces fall to the ground.
If the cord used is a natural fiber, you may want to burn or bury the cord to completely get rid of the menace.
With knot of one, the spell’s begun.
With knot of two, the spell be true.
With knot of three, the spell is free.
With knot of four, the power is stored.
With knot of five, this spell will thrive.
With knot of six, this spell I fix.
With knot of seven, the spell will waken.

The Two Cups Spell
Fill one cup with water and the other with your favorite beverage.
Hold up the first cup and focus on the water. Send any negative feelings or worries into the water. Pour it on the ground to be transformed by the Mother into useful energy.
Hold up the second cup and imagine it filled with blessings and healing energy. Drink it down and be refreshed.
Now we are ready for the next moon cycle.
